So, what do you do after a waterfall excursion? Why not drop by this place for some fresh seafood? Apparently, they have village chicken as well.

I've heard of this place few years back. As enticing as it was (fresh seafood surrounded by water), the journey was appalling. Hence, when I saw its signboard on the way to the waterfall, a bulb lit up in my head.

Playing on my idiot box currently is Limitless which is about using your brain to its potential. All the things that we've seen, heard, touched, smelt and tasted before are in our brains. We just need a way to dig them out.My brain is still struggling to learn Chinese so you should probably not listen to me so much on the topic of using your brains effectively.

But, it turned out that the signboard was familiar for a reason. We decided to have a late lunch (or tea time, if you will) here as the drive back would be too far for our stomachs to stomach.

Stir fried fern with belacan RM 10
I like it when they use the softer ferns that even the stalks are easy on the teeth. Hate it when you chew and chew and chew, only to discover they didn' clean it properly, leaving a strand (or two) or fiber in your mouth that just refuses to breakdown. I get chewed enough at work and the last thing I wanna do is do any chewing outside the office.

Kerabu squid RM 12
So fresh that I could just die and thank the heavens for the juicy squid. The slight sourness and sweet sauce made it all the better. They did a great job in bringing out the freshness of the squid.

BBQ tilapia RM 35
Not sure if it's because the fish was fresh from the pond but for a simple dish of grilled fish coated with salt, they again let you taste the freshness of the fish. The flesh was sweet and doesn't break easily or even remotely mushy (a sure sign that the fish has been dead for some time). The fish is also stuffed with some spices but not too much, unlike La La Chong's.

Mango sticky rice RM 10
For someone who don't quite like take mango seriously, this turned out quite good. The fruit was rather sweet, perfect with the rice.

Tab tib krob RM 5
My favorite Thai dessert is given a makeover that I am not quite sure of. The basics are still there but the chestnut (pink rubies) had a heavy coating of tapioca flour outside while the nut itself is rather small. Either that or the flour coating made it so. The ice used was also rather coarse, perhaps broken by hand using an ice pick instead of a proper machine.

So, what the food good? Yes, it was fresh and quite worth it.
Did the place make you feel closer to nature? Being surrounded by hills and trees, it's hard not to get lost in Mother nature. That is until the flies start swarming your table.
Would I return for another meal? Only if I am in the vicinity.

And seriously, Ampang Jaya is so frigging far away from the downtown Ampang 😨
