Located within the latest mall in the Damansara postcode, Kory looked like a nice cafe where you can go in to grab a quick lunch or have a catch up with your girl friends. That's the manager or person-in-charge since he was ordering the staff around.
It has a bright decor with relatively comfy seats which is ideal (you'll see in a minute why) along with outdoor seating. While waiting for my food to arrive, more people starting pouring into the cafe that they had an issue with seating people. That's fair since it wasn't that big. However, when a woman entered and asked for a table for one, the waiter went "uh, one? just one?? 😥"
How difficult is it to get her the damn table? As someone who does that almost frequently, thankfully I've never had to experience the horror of not being seated even at busier establishments (read: Kim Gary). Perhaps, the place just opened so maybe their staff is inexperienced. Unfortunately, it didn't stop there.
Since only one of us ordered a drink, they were kind enough to bring us the water and cups. No charge for this but there is the service charge already.
Iced lemon tea which was part of my RM 1 add on to the set. Surprisingly, it wasn't too sweet.
Popcorn chicken salad RM 17
The fried chicken was not really oily but not enough of them to go around on that mountain of salad. The use of balsamic vinegar dressing instead of the fatty mayo or thousand island was a good move. However, the price for this certainly don't quite justify it. Which is really just the beginning.
Beef bulbogi with salad and rice RM 26
When we first sat down, the cafe wasn't full but it was once our order was taken. The salad didn't take long to arrive but my meal certainly took ages. When it did finally arrive, I felt a bit cheated. The meat portion was quite small and it had more onion and carrots than beef. It was also a bit too sweet but maybe that's what the rice is for which would have been acceptable if not that the rice also was rather overcooked, or just had too much water. If not because of hunger, it would have been difficult to finish this. The sweetness from the beef was just too much on its own.
The other add-on to my set was this mushroom soup. Now, any waiter worth their salary would know that you serve soup at the beginning of the meal. Not after the main course and after your customer reminds you of it. The saving grace here would be that the soup isn't straight out of the Campbell can type and the bread was almost good with a touch of olive.
My lunch date reminded me to quickly post this up before they close down 😂
