Review: Aroi Mak Mak, PJ SS17

Situated at the same row as the possibly most famous banana leaf rice restaurant, parking here is a challenge. You can either car pool or best to just get an Uber/Grab.

White rice RM 3
The problem with Thai food is that the flavors are so rich that you need something mild to go with it. So no carb diet doesn't quite apply here. Sadder still, how could they charge RM 3 for a rice that though was fragrant, it was still a bit clumpy?

Tom yum seafood (small) RM 30
With a Thai fan in the house, there was no running away from ordering this. Luckily, she prefers the clear version over the milky type. I find this is not as filling. It was quite spicy despite the lack of color with a tinge of sourness. The seafood was juicy and fresh.

Deep fried pork rib with garlic RM 20
What do you do when your dinner company can't take spicy food? This is one choice. However, this had more bones than flesh. While it did have that garlic taste, the dryness of the meat was an even bigger turnoff.

Stir fried paku with belacan RM 15
Not as dry but much spicier than the pork, the fern was stir fried until just right. Not too soft or still raw.

If you are interested for dinner here, make it early or bear with the crowd. It can get rather noisy here too.
