Movies: What happened to Monday

Thanks to Netflix for making non-stream movies with big names. This happened to be one of those with:
  • Dystopian future
  • Sci-fi
  • lots of action
  • bleak outlook
Yea, those are the kind of things that set my heart racing. Before going any further, here's a disclaimer: spoiler alert.

The movie starts off in the future where there is a world population crisis. Unlike Children of Men, Netflix decided that art should imitate real life. Or China's one child policy to be specific. I think that the China Chinese people who watched it would probably go, "dang, why didn't I think of that?".

Having just finished Orphan Black recently (another brilliant series that did right in going off with a bang), this movie did ring a bell as the story develops. After all, how many shows can you say that you see the same actress playing multiple characters? Not just one but at least 4. Noomi Rapace played them all quite well though I wouldn't say that they are all very different from each other.

Although there are plot holes (how did they get rid of the body? what happened to their grandfather?), it's still more enjoyable than any of those mainstream movies these days. Perhaps, I just want to see the world hopeless.

And after watching this movie, you'll understand why everyone hates Monday.
