Review: Guac! Food Truck

One of the good thing about having a food truck is how it's mobile and you can switch locations depending on your time and mood. Oh and of course, demographics of your clientele.
One of the bad thing about having a food truck is how it's mobile and and you can switch locations depending on your time and mood. Oh and of course, your clientele would need to be on the hunt for you.
Hence, it is always a good idea to have an updated site where your potential customers would know of your whereabouts. Guac is certainly good at that since they are either at TTDI or Uptown. Nobody likes to drive all the way over, only to be disappointed. Especially when it involves food.

With so many players in the food truck, you'd think that there is more than enough but no. It is great that they are all serving up different genres. One thing in common is the pricing. Some are cheap. Some are not. Burgers were the pioneer choice of food truck owners (an inspiration from the humble road side Ramly burger stalls perhaps?) but you get to see quite a lot of choices now coming out from these four wheeled restaurants.

So, how does Guac fare and are they as authentic as it gets?
While it's hard for me to answer the latter since my experience with Mexican food is limited to Las Carretas which is most probably cooked by non-Mexican and never stepped foot into Mexico (any sponsors?), I'll focus on answering the former.

Although the word taco is boldly emblazoned across the truck, it was the one thing I didn't get because my delivery guy said they deep fry the taco so it would get soggy and God forbid soggy fried food. Instead, it was burritos all the way which is not so bad especially since it was delivered right to my door step :D (this is not Guac's delivery service, let me just state that out).

Chicken burrito didn't really taste like chicken but not in a bad way. The meat was a laid in the middle like those chicken strips accompanied by some salsa. I found the wrap was to be a little too thick. Otherwise, this was passable.

Fish burrito. Similar to the chicken with a texture that's unlike fish. Also, not in a bad way. Each bite gives you the right spices flavor and it doesn't make you want to dance the macarena , only your tummy will be happy and no longer singing the song of an angry man.

Beef burrito. Maybe it's my recent inclination towards red meat so this went down nicely. This had a nice juice going on, not quite soggy and dripping, just almost finger licking moist.

Saving the best for last would be the same beef burrito with rice. Throw in some tomato salsa and lettuce and it's like fireworks in the mouth. This time around, the burrito wrap was good enough to hold it all together.
