Review: Nasi Lemak Famous, Bangsar

Since I was in the vicinity, it was a great opportunity to try this out. I suppose it is also partly after writing this. Oh and another friend who had been on the lookout for great nasi lemak spots. My initial attempt at trying to get free pizza from him at Mikey's failed miserable so nasi lemak it was.

Apart from fried chicken, they have the usual curry meats as well but having read rave reviews about fried chicken, that is what I picked. The sambal isn't very spicy but certainly has a nice heat to it, not overly sweet either. The rice is fragrant without being dry. The ikan bilis or fried anchovies were pretty sodium-heavy but that only makes it perfect with the chilli and rice. Almost like a marriage made in heaven.

Now, the chicken is something of its own. Deep fried till perfection and cooked inside out, it was all round juicy and succulent. The crispy skin certainly gives it a good contrasting texture. Flavor wise, it hits all the right notes with spices that are subtle but good.

This made for a rather enjoyable meal. Except for the RM 6 price. The rice is slightly smaller than your usual portion and the chicken isn't that huge either. Maybe next time I'll have a chicken and another meat to go along and satisfy my nasi lemak cravings.
