Review: Kuala Mama, Aman Suria

This place underwent a re-branding not too long ago after realizing that nobody in their right frame of mind would pay above average for kopitiam fare. So, why not add curry into the mix and see if any gullible person would take it for a mamak? My opinion remains the same i.e. if Old Town Kopitiam failed to survive at the very same spot, it is just history in the remaking.

But having said that, I have to give credit to their coffee. It is better than Old Town's, being thicker and creamier.

Half boiled kampung eggs. What's the deal with kampung, organic produce? In a crude manner, they all still end up the same i.e. shit. If you eat organic food along but practice a bad life style e.g. drinking and smoking, what difference would it make?

Sadly, their half boiled is more than half boiled. I prefer my eggs to be slightly more runny. But since we are talking about eggs here, all is forgiven.

Their kaya and butter toast is an odd one which I later discovered is all the norm these days in these high class kopitiams. A less than generous layer of kaya, they put in sticks of butter in between the toasts. Gone are the days were you have the pleasure of spreading your legs the butter yourself. One bite of plain boring toast followed by a cold bite of solidified oil. It can be quite a guilty pleasure.
