Not sure if they underwent a management change or merely rebranding, but from the outside, it still has the same facade, only different name. The boss decided to have dinner for the team Jalan Teknokrat 6,

After a rather sad excuse of yee sang, Tanglung renewed my faith in it once more. While it never got back to its former glory, I did like the plum sauce and that touch of freshness in the form of purple cabbage. Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough so didn't manage to sample any fish here.
They offer few different CNY sets, the lowest starting from RM 688 for 10pax which is what you're going to see next.
Crab meat soup with mushroom and abalone slice. The soup was quite thick and it's mostly water, not much of seafood in there. However, they were generous with the mushroom. Not thinly chopped/sliced but quite fat pieces.
Steamed red snapper with red XO sauce.
We all liked this one because the fish was fresh and it was spicy. The sauce is actually the Teochew chili oil type. Not sure if we were short changed or the fish was really that skinny.
Glutinous rice with Chinese waxed meat. Amazingly, the waitress managed to divide the rice into 10 bowls without any leftover. The rice wasn't very oily with that taste of the meat slightly seeped into it. Together with the XO sauce, it was a heavenly combo. The meat itself was sliced thin enough that each bite is just right without overpowering the rice.
Pan seared king prawn.
I don't usually take prawns because of the effort required. Luckily, this time around they actually cut the shell in half already so it was easier to de-shell it. The taste was quite sweet and I enjoyed the flavor. Unfortunately, the experience was marred by the prawn itself which wasn't very fresh.
Bean curd skin, mushroom, dried oyster and black moss.
Somehow, they must have taken into account for each person that they portioned the broccoli as such. The herbivore was slightly complaining about the lack of greens 😄I was happy because there were more than enough dried oyster and shimeji mushroom to go around. But it did help that 30% of our table is non-Chinese so this was an acquired taste to them.
Deep fried crispy spring chicken.
A rather small chicken (or two), we found that the chicken was quite dry and it didn't help that they didn't provide us with any sauce for it. The only way to salvage it is by having it with the earlier vegetarian dish.
Dessert.
For all the innovate dishes, the dessert didn't lose out either. The yellow dot is actually a sad excuse of a mochi with a hint of orange flavor, most likely artificial. I could only take a bite and decided it wasn't worth the 10mins of HIIT to burn them off.
Half of them didn't know what to make of the brown stuff. At a glance, it's easy to mistaken them for mushroom or marshmallow. Clue: it's neither of those.
Strangely enough, none of them have seen these in night markets. Or maybe they are too high class, unlike moi 😂It's actually steamed bun with filling.
These are actually steamed buns made to resemble mushroom. Heck, it even comes with the stem. It came with a custard feeling. Not too sweet and does pair well with the bun.
Longan and red bean soup.
Funnily enough, most of them found this to be an odd combo. It's my first time trying it though. Sure, the flavor is a bit different but I kinda like it. What was odd to me was the red beans weren't cooked long enough so they weren't soft/tender, with still a bit of texture to them.
If you are looking for a decent Chinese restaurant in Malaysia's Silicon Valley, give this place a try.
