Chill chill break: Equatorial Copthorne Hotel

After lunch, we made our way to the hotel. This was before Chinese New Year, hence the festivities. The place was quite empty but I supposed that's to be expected of off-season.

The lobby is quite large with some pool tables and large sofas.

A foosball table but you have to pay to play.

The reception area is quite brightly lit, thanks to the glass wall which allows natural light to stream in.

This is how the outside looks like. Almost like an English village. And that's not because I've seen it on the idiot box but I was sorta in one 😂They gave us an apartment which could fit a max of 4adults. We thought it meant that it's big.

The first time that greets you after you open the door is the TV and a makeshift bar. Oh, and the smell. Not exactly of fresh air but stale, almost musky dead air. Like the place hasn't been opened/used for awhile. It didn't help that there's no such thing as air conditioner or fan to circulate the air. It's all mother nature, baby.

They provide the usual coffee and tea with bottles of free water, refilled daily. There are even more cups, plates, bowls and cutlery at the top shelf but nothing for heavy cooking. So, sorry, you can't have a steamboat party in here.

However, you could reheat your food with the microwave if you've put it in the fridge overnight.

The L-shaped sofa by the balcony. I don't know if it's the cold air or the sofa felt a bit damp.
As it turned out, 4 people could indeed fit in here as it came with 2 separate bed and bath rooms.

The smaller room that's located closer to the entrance has 2 single beds. There's a wardrobe on the right for you to store your luggage/clothes. Another thing to note (apart from the smell) is the lighting. Their lights are so dim that I almost felt like I was back in the 80s, kinda like Wong Kar Wai's In the Mood for Love. This has been made brighter in Photoshop.

This is the view. It's actually the back lane of the parking. Nothing much to see.

A somewhat larger mirror at the edge of the beds. Fengshui says that it's bad to put a mirror in such a position as you're likely to wake up and scare yourself with your own reflection. Must look pretty ugly back then.

The not-attached bathroom. It is rather narrow with the shower area just beside the toilet. Almost impossible for someone to take a dump while another showers. Not quite but golden shower, anyone?

Toiletries. Rarely do I ever come across a hotel shampoo to be good for my hair (tangles galore) but this proved to be rather manageable. It does have a rather nice smell as well.

Moving to the main bedroom, it is much bigger than the other room with a king size bed and a cabinet. For what? I don't know. There's also a wardrobe for you to hang clothes. I like my privacy so we had the curtains closed but that also meant having a really dark room.

The main bathroom has a similar setup as the other except it's shorter and wider. It comes with hair dryer so that's a bonus especially in the cold weather.

That's the separate shower area so yes, one can dump, one can shower. At the same time. The shower does come with a heater but it's one of those where the temperature is control by moving the tap to the left or right. It did take few minutes before it warmed up but when it does, quite warm.

View from the balcony beside living area. You can also sit outside at the balcony and soak in the fresh air.

To the left, more apartments. I saw there was a signboard for Berjaya Group Holiday or something along those lines. Is this place actually a time share between these corporations?

Here's a better view of it. We did see some other visitors during our stay there but not much.

And here's the view on the right.

The place is quite dead at night. I wouldn't say that it felt unsafe to be walking around but there isn't much here to explore. Right at the entrance, there is a small commercial area that was obviously meant to con tourists with massage services, steamboat and convenience store.

Here's a night shot sans flash.
