Raj's Banana Leaf Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

Considered the newest of them, Raj has some serious competition when it comes to banana leaf rice. Nirvana and Devi's have been around for so long that it certainly would take Raj a lot to even be considered as an option.

At RM 8 each, you get the standard fare of rice (1 choice only), a vegetable, fried gourd and cucumber salad with 2 pieces of appam (I know because 4more would cost your 40cents). Maybe it's been a while since my last banana leaf meal or the rain was adding to my hungriness that I felt Raj was a worthy contender to some of the best banana leaf restaurants in the Klang Valley.

The chicken curry was spicy enough on the well cooked rice. Only issue is with the fried veggie as it wasn't crispy. And we came at peak dinner time.

Mutton varuval and half eaten fried chicken. The former was hot and spicy, a deadly but enjoyable combination. Best eaten with the rice, just make sure they don't forget and you don't finish your rice to fast/soon. The chicken was unfortunate as it wasn't hot enough. Quite sad because I could smell the/some frying action in the air and it smelt damn good.

Overall, I would come here again and not just to avoid the crowds. Hopefully, service would be better then.
