A shop that serves only claypot chicken rice, vegetables and soup? Yup, this is exactly what Chong Kee does and excels at. What you probably need to know is they do run out of soups quite early, you have to be there early not just for the soup but table as the place is very popular during dinner hour and there's only one person taking your order at the back of the restaurant.

What's so special special about it? Well, for starters, the rice is cooked perfectly until there's a nice crispy crust on the bottom which some people avoid for fear of cancer but that's really one of the best things when it comes to claypot chicken rice. The meat is also marinated well with soy and oyster sauce (I suspect) that when mixed with the plain rice, the smell is enough to make you salivate. Don't forget the sweet lap cheong and the salty salted fish to make this the perfect combo.

Don't worry, you can make this a perfectly wholesome meal with some veggie though don't expect something over the top as their kitchen is fast paced so most of what they serve is quite standard. That means blanched greens with oyster sauce and fried shallots.
