My very first ever Tinder date was in the Bangsar outlet. It was a Saturday night and what better way to spend it than with a complete stranger that you've been chatting up with on a dating platform that's also synonymous with hookups? I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

They (Ippudo, not Tinder) was having a birthday promotion then whereby if it's your birthday month, you get this really big jug bowl of fruit juice.  My head could probably fit in there rather comfortably.

It's just a fruit punch minus the alcohol which is still not bad. Except if it's only the two of you drinking it.

But it was quite the conversation piece when both parties happen to be slightly awkward due to the circumstances and communication barrier. Have you tried to have a chat with someone using half English, half Google translate?

Shiromaru Motoaji RM 24.90: Ippudo's original tonkotsu broth served with ultra thin noodles, pork loin, bean sprouts, kikurage and spring onions. Classic Hakata-style ramen.

Akamaru Shinaji RM 26.90: Ippudo's original tonkotsu broth enhanced with special blended miso paste and fragrant garlic oil. Served with thin noodles, pork belly, kikurage and spring onions.

Lets all take a moment to thank Ippudo's webmaster for doing a great job of uploading their menus on to their websites and saving me the brain power to think of something to say about their ramen which was very hearty albeit somewhat too heavy to be taken too often. Apart from ramen, they do have other small bites and appetizers, of note would be their juicy pork bun: Juicy braised pork belly served with Ippudo's special sauce.

In case if you're interested, my blind date ended relatively well. I went back home alive and breathing, nothing harm. Maybe just my cholesterol level took a hit, thanks to all the porky goodness.
