The smaller, cheaper version of Sunway Lagoon, it is the northern folk's answer to a water theme park. Since it was time for my annual pilgrimage to my hometown, I snapped up few tickets from GroupOn. Yes, I am cheap enough to get it cheaper.

Our maiden voyage together. This was from LegoLand. Obviously, it was a gift. Merely jumping on the bandwagon of posing your toy in the shots.

Since you're expected to dabble in some water fun, they wrap your wrist with these sturdy paper bracelet. Seriously, it's hard to tear them apart.

Not sure why the kid looked quite annoyed. It isn't the happiest place on the planet but why not have fun while you are at it? Like life, it is bound to suck because we will die eventually. Make the best of it in between now and then.

Tower overseeing the man made beach. Not sure if there was a lifeguard up there. The 'sea' goes up to almost my shoulder (165cm from top to toe, not including my beloved heels).

Entrance to the man made beach. There isn't any real sand (thank God) and compared to its Selangor counterpart, it was really small. But pretty fun to frolic around if that's your thing. Can rent those tubes as well.

The poor man's answer to The Banjaran.

The pools are heated naturally and I can't tell if they're a murky shade of green from the algae or the wall or God forbid, uncleanliness.

But with temperature that high, any bacteria would have been killed off (tries to console self).
It isn't that hot, just good enough to soak it in. There are also sauna jets around the perimeter of the pool to give a good massage.

This is basically a cave with the same hotspring running. If you are claustrophobic, skip this.

Hungry? Lets go grab a bite.

There aren't that many shops/restaurants. But at least the prices aren't as exorbitant as Sunway Lagoon's. We didn't try any of these so I'll give you proper suggestions instead.

Dim sum is best at Foh San though the veterans say their quality has gone down since they got all popular.
Pomelo is as local and seasonal as you can get in Ipoh. Strange but come to think of it, I've never bought one there.

They don't call it Ipoh white coffee for nothing. Most of the places in Ipoh do serve up good versions so you can't go wrong unless you step into Starbucks.
Hiong Piah is apparently a thing which baffles me because those things never came up much during my early years in Ipoh.

Silky smooth tau fu fah can be found at Funny Mountain. No laughter guaranteed after visiting it.

Tea and kacang puteh are another 2things that I don't recall Ipoh being famous for. Or maybe it's my ultra Chinese upbringing that sheltered me from these.

Curry noodles are best savored at Yee Fatt. Sorry, no relation to me so no discount if you were to quote my name or blog.

They also do sell some souvenirs if that's your thing.

After much exploring and having fun in the water, we took a break at Tutti Frutti as the prices were more reasonable. Their ice blended mango yogurt was refreshing for the not-very-hot day.

Fruity nutty concoction. Feels so healthy even just from looking at it.
Slightly sourish (as expected from yogurt).

Instead of playing games of the heart, why not indulge in some carnival fun?
There were few stalls setup, each of which were manned by sad looking operators. So it sucks for you to be working there but come on. Gimme a smile.

Not sure if this was closed or there wasn't a demand for it (I would have loved to go for a ride, just this. not matters of the heart).

Dulang tea house. Also not open.

What's better than to enjoy a hot cup of tea in such a tranquil setting? If the bloody shop is open.

There's a running stream to tickle your feet as your taste bud gets tickled by their local tea time offering.

We took the effort (and risk) to climb to the top. Must make full use of that.

Yes, silly me. And for God's sake, stop trying to look for pretty, cam-whore, sexy, cleavage on this blog. This is not that kind of blog. Go on other parts of the Internet where those are in abundance, just not here.

 Trying or hands on mendulang.
Ipoh started out as a mining town. Thankfully, after the mining boom died down, the town continued to flourish with other economic factors. These days, it's mainly food.

Not sure if they did put in real ore there but it was fun.

At a glance, it read to me as suicide box. Freudian slip?

The entire theme park isn't that big so it is possible to cover the grounds on foot alone. But if you are that lazy or incapable, there is a mini train that goes around to show you the sight and sounds.

Similar to Lagoon, there is also an in-house zoo but at a much smaller scale.  Yes, Lagoon spoilt this for me. So, if you are thinking of bringing the kids to both places, come to Tambun first.

Cheetah? Leopard?
Do you believe that leopards don't change their spots? I'd like to think that we are better than that.
Fundamentally, we maybe who we are but there should be room for improvement.

Pony is like a miniature horse with diva hairstyle.

More (wild) cats looking more bored than me on a dateless night.

Roller coaster ride which my companions didn't want to try T_T

Halloween in full works.
