Review: Crazy Penguin, Kota Damansara [CLOSED]
So fresh that any fresher, you'd be getting post from the cafe itself. Not wanting to waste this coupon that's expiring this Friday itself, tonight's dessert was settled courtesy of GroupOn. After reading rather good review here, the deal was rather timely.
One thing the place did right was with the lighting. Anyone worth their camera would know how challenging it is working with yellow lighting. For me, I'd curse them for making me waste much time to edit in PS. Thankfully, this place employs white lighting to make your Instagram shots awesome and a black man to work the counter. Sorry, bad pun. Or joke.
The place has penguin references thrown all around but not all are as cute as this particular decal. Definitely meant to bait cutesy bloggers and

"1x premium waffle + 1x coffee for RM15 instead of RM32.40" translated to:
Iced Cappucino - there's the hot version which hopefully is better than this as it came out rather diluted even before the ice started to melt.
(Premium) waffle with mixed fruit. Although the deal came with few choices, the cashier/waiter didn't ask us on our choice and gave us this which is not so bad because it's the most expensive of the lot anyway =D
Did this fare better than the coffee? Well, the waffle was passable. I've had better waffles (read: Inside Scoop) but they do cost considerably more as well. Guess you get what you pay for?
The fruits weren't exceptionally fresh. The waffles was (thankfully) still crispy though not for long, thanks to the cream and fruits.
Honestly, this place would probably attract hipsters or die-hard Korean dessert lovers. Having said that, given that I didn't try that here nor am I well acquainted with bingsu (only once to be precise), you should pay no heed to my words like most people that I talk to in real life =(
For sure, this snow maker is quite an attraction, if you don't mind the slight din when it is turned on. Of course, it isn't actual snow; just fine iced shavings. So if you're too broke to experience the real deal, this may just be cheaper than a trip to Genting or even the snow house in Shah Alam (if that is even still open).
