Review: Chang Thai Restaurant, Old Klang Road

Jalan Klang Lama

Apart from Indian food, Thai food is another that sets my heart aflutter. Actually, if not because jl absolutely loves it, Thai food wouldn't make it that much on my list. Do you know what food really tops my favorite list? Free food.

After sending her this list, it got her all excited and she is the reason why I managed to cross off half off.  Thus, we settled on this place. It sounded familiar enough and true enough, it was featured on GroupOn before =\

The restaurant opened up few months ago so the decor still looks relatively new.

In fact, the hotel itself does look rather newly renovated. Parking wasn't an issue as we came for an early Sunday dinner (read: 6pm). The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.

Jasmine brown rice RM 3: nothing like a bowl of hot rice with Thai food. Or any Asian cuisine as a matter of fact. Unfortunate for people like me on a no-carb policy. fml.
But after being told that I could lose some weight, eh, not bad.

Yum Plah Dook Foo RM 16.90: green mango salad.
The contrast between the slightly sour mango and salty deep fried fish bits made this a good appetizer. Not that spicy either.

Tom som with seafood RM 20.90

It is great that jl  favors this version of tom yum over the coconut milk version which may be too oily and heavy. This particular one hit the right notes with its sourness and spiciness. I wouldn't say it is too spicy but given my preference for spicy food, you need to take that with a pinch of salt. Or glass of ice water.
jl noted that the seafood wasn't that fresh though.

Khai Jiao Ho Mok RM 17.90: special egg omelette  with fish paste and Thai basil

Thap Tim Krop RM 6.90: water chestnut and jackfruit with coconut milk. Not too sweet and I like the tapioca balls.
But this was on the house on top of the 25% discount off the entire bill.

Here is the menu. It doesn't come cheap which made the GroupOn deal even more worth it T_T
These are all in large resolution for a better viewing.
