Originally called Tang Shifu, they re-branded to this after few years of operating in KL. Originating from Johor, they had all the right elements of serving healthy nourishing Chinese dishes. We all know there is a dearth of options in that segment. Unfortunately, their prices were a bit too high for the average masses that the hype died down to the point that they began converting the shops into health supplement/good shop before finally closing it down. Or at least that's what happened to their Damansara Uptown branch.

I did like it when they first open, offering wholesome clean flavors while making your body feel nourish. However, quite hard to go there often without burning a hole in my/someone else's pocket. And lets face it, not many people these days appreciate simple dishes or even classic Chinese ones that's light on the palette.

Chicken and abalone mee suah RM 18
tg originally wanted ginger wine chicken noodle instead but I reminded him that this will help to increase his vitality (or so the menu claims) and he has been complaining about low energy. What's he going to do with his new found vitality then? 😊 I guess we won't really know because he didn't feel quite revitalized.

The soup itself had a hint of ginseng. Noodles were ok, a bit on the soft side but that's typical of mee suah, which is why I generally don't like them. If you are looking for some herbal taste, there's not much to be found here. But if you want a clean simple soup, this is perfect.

Souper braised pork rice RM 16
This is lou rou fan but in a heated stone bowl and boy, that does make a hell of a difference. For one, the whole thing stays hot throughout, without scorching your tongue. The meat was well marinated and meant to go with the rice. Without the carb, it may be a bit too salty. As for the soup, it's a rather standard chicken soup with cabbage but with added bonus of dried scallop so it's kinda sweet.

One thing of note is the service. Not brilliant but rather haphazard. Maybe we were there during the peak shopping season but many tables were waiting for their food (us included), those gone were still not cleared.
