Unsure of what to have, we decided to give this place a try since it looked not bad. Almost impressive with its clean sleek interior, good air conditioning (despite it being an indoor steamboat joint, we didn't feel remotely hot while dining there).
Gone are the days when you are limited to just fried shallots with soy sauce and one chili sauce for your steamboat. The usual suspects are still there with few more additions. The chili oil is a favorite but not suitable for all steamboat ingredients. The red chili, synonymous with chicken rice, is not bad. The green chili packs a perfect punch. For those who can't take the heat, there's that brown sauce. Sorry, it just taste too weird for me to know better.
Value set RM 23.80/pax
This is for two. Definitely one of the costlier steamboats around. However, the ingredients were rather different. They still give you the same meat but with different choices of vegetables.
Came with a choice of noodle and dumplings. The set itself was just all right. Soup was disappointing because it tastes slightly watered down. I didn't feel that it was worth it.
Fried stuffed tofu roll RM 8
It's a bad idea to have steamboat when you are really hungry or just too impatient to wait for everything to come together. Luckily, you can order something else in the mean time. This one was quite good for a starter. Crispy and maybe a tad bit oily, the meat filling was nicely marinated. Goes very well with the Thai sweet chili sauce.
Homemade four seasons ball RM 14
The set did come with the balls but we topped up with another plate since hungry brain is no good when it comes to portion sizing. Thankfully, the meatballs were great. Taste wise and texture.
Sliced pork RM 15
One thing's for sure, you pay a fair bit for the aesthetic presentation. More than the taste. Sliced thinly enough that you can do it shabu-shabu way, the pork was fatty juicy. Once cooked, dip it into your favorite sauce and savor the juicy meat.
While the ingredients are above average, the soup taste marred the experience. You may be better off at Yugami or for something a bit more eclectic, Sushi Roiyaru.
