Tea & croissant: Steak in the land of baguettes

We saw a number of their restaurants all about town that I couldn't help but to pay them a visit one fine night. It also did help that it was on the way back to our hotel room and everything else was closed or close to it (no pun intended).

Their menu comes in English and offer mainly steak, Western fare with a touch of French.

Their steak with a serving of fries and sauce of your picking. This is the herb butter that's been melted and it was pretty good. The fries tasted slightly over fried. Not oily kind but burnt, I guess?

The steak itself was cooked quite nicely, with a nice pink in the middle. Slightly dry but that's what the sauce is for. This article made me shuddered as I scrolled through it. Is that how (traditional) Chinese folks feel too when we order our beef medium (rare)?

Minced beef steak with egg and pilaf rice. To avoid putting a (further) dent to my purse, I opted for something cheaper but still with some meat. The rice came along fine because for some odd reason, it drew me to it. Perhaps from the overdose of fries for the past couple of days. But I draw the line at actually ordering fried rice for the sake of remembering/missing home. A friend actually did that when he was in UK for training for a week (or two).

Surprisingly, the rice turned out to be quite delicious. Much better than what we have back home in terms of taste and texture. Soft and fluffy, they held the flavors well.

The egg was as nicely done with a crispy edge. The best is hidden underneath it.

Even the word of it doesn't sound very appealing but don't let this minced beef steak fool you.

Sure, it's not the entire cut as a whole and most likely bits and bobs from all over but they managed to execute it well. For starters, it didn't suffer from dryness. The flavors were also quite good, maybe even better than the steak.

If you are keen to try, our neighbor up north actually do have one.
