Tea & croissant: Louvre on the outside

At a glance, could you tell what this is?

 What about now?

The Louvre Museum is very popular among tourists but most of the pictures only show that one particular feature. We were simply taking in the city on foot with no actual destination when we stumbled on this building.

Seeing how everyone was making their way in and out, curiosity got the better of us that we peeked in to have a closer look.

Initially we thought it was one of the many historical buildings.

Turned out it was the museum. Yes, this is what gave it away.

The sun was just setting at close to 8pm and the crowd was just exiting the museum.

Some people visit Paris without ever stepping foot into any of the museum. It's not a big loss if you're more of a Chanel than a Discovery Channel person.

There were a lot of people taking pictures. Some in the usual pose, some quite strange. There was one who stepped onto the street lamp and swung from it.

Paris is generally safe at night if you stick to the more famous and well lit places. While I didn't encounter any untoward incidents, my Malaysian upbringing has made me paranoid about going out late at night in general.

Is the view better at night? I find the day and nights view are both good in their own ways.

 Another arc of the city.

Can you spot the Ferris wheel at a distance?
