Review: Al Ehsan, PJ SS14

Funnily enough, I was trying my best to recall how to get to this neighborhood just now after dinner in PJ SS14. My brain was just too fried that it decided to screw it and head back home instead. It is somewhere at the back of my head. Just can't connect the dots. Like every other thing in my life.

This is a rather famous nasi lemak joint for the fried chicken. Parking can be a bit of a hassle as they happen to line their tables along the street too. The crowd starts to pour in mid of the night. Guess it's an actual night haunt for night owls.

Compared to the other famous stall (Nasi Lemak Bumbung), I prefer this as the sambal is spicier.
All others were pretty standard, something that you'd expect from any decent nasi lemak stall.

Their fried chicken is quite unusual for any ordinary mamak. For starters, it's deep fried until really crunchy but still juicy and succulent on the inside. These are best when straight out of the oil. The crispy bits are the deep fried batter and makes for an awesome (if not sinful) snack. This alone makes the trip worthwhile. Also noteworthy would be the rather generous size of the meat. Usually, once deep fried, one may wonder if the chickens were on a diet but these were probably voluptuous.

Tandoori chicken didn't fare too well. I found it kinda dry but at least the flavors from the marinade was good.
