Located beside the more popular Thai BBQ, the place was rather deserted when we were there for dinner. However, if you look at their Facebook page, they do seem to enjoy brisk lunch hour business. Jalan PJU 1a/1 Taipan 2,

The menu offers the usual Vietnamese suspects. Price is definitely cheaper than Pho Vietz. I was a little concerned since apart from us, there was another table of Japanese family. But, one should always give chance especially to the underdogs. We all need to start from the bottom.
The fried garlic oil was rather interesting. The fish sauce is also on hand if you find your food needing some flavors (I didn't).
Spicy beef noodles.
The place is run by Vietnamese women who can converse in Mandarin, perhaps better than me. The menu comes in both Vietnamese and English but it would have been nice if they taught how to eat this. So, you're supposed to pluck out the leaves and add them into the soup.
On its own, the noodles were not too spicy. They used lai fun-type of noodles so makes for a good slurping candidate. The beef were sliced thin but not enough to cook in the soup. The sliced ham/meatloaf is an interesting one. Not very salty or flavorful.
Beef stew with bahn mi or baguette.
The bread was definitely good, absorbed the gravy well without being too soggy. The meat was cooked long enough to be tender, absorbing some of the gravy. Not really spicy but portion maybe a bit small.
They do offer drip coffee and dessert. I will definitely be back to try the coffee. And the food's not bad either.
