If you don't fancy a walk down memory lane, why not go for Japanese instead? Offering ala carte as well as sets, you can also have it buffet style if your appetite is that big. We were here on a Friday night and the oyster promotion looked too good to be true. Not sure if it's still on now as at RM 10 for a platter for half dozen when your total bill is above RM 50 (or was it RM30??), that's quite a bargain. I was expecting puny oysters but there were of substantial size.

Topped with a slice of lemon, the oysters were sadly spoiled by few sprinkles of chili powder. It's probably meant to make it taste less of the sea but maybe Tabasco sauce would have done the trick better? They were fresh and juicy, so that makes up for it.

Udon and sushi set. All their sets are about RM 25 to 30, comes with a drink (green tea refillable).

Chawanmushi was all right, not silky smooth enough. Potato salad was a little creamy. Would have like some Japanese mayo on top.

Pickles for appetizers. Fried fish skin with mayo, the best snack in between all that food. A bit salty then sweet from the mayo.

The sushi generally was a bit of a letdown. Was it the topping (egg, prawn, salmon)? Could it have been the rice? Or maybe because it was made by a woman? It's strange but women supposedly don't make good (or at least consistently good) sushi due to their fluctuating body temperature (thanks, hormones).

 Udon with tamago onsen.
I was tad bit disappointed when I took my first spoonful of the soup. It wasn't hot. Just enough not to be lukewarm. Was that intentional to ensure that the egg doesn't continue cooking, ensuring it stays in that perfect half cooked, half raw texture? Sadly, that's an unfair tradeoff because the soup taste was wonderful, alongside the well cooked noodles.

Cold soba  with takoyaki and sushi roll.
The noodles were good (maybe even better than the soup version). My dinner date didn't complain much about it so guess it was enjoyable?  😄
