Review: Tokyo Secret, IPC

If memory serves me right, this one opened just before Hokkaido and it didn't have to do much of any marketing as the blogosphere were simply raving about it. Everyone was talking about its cheese filling that was melting and oozing out. I would be lying to say that it didn't pique my interest but the long lines at its 1Utama branch certainly put a damper to it.47800 Petaling Jaya
Luckily enough, they opened another branch here that's merely a stone's throw away. Just a month ago or so, this branch had a queue going on until it reached way past its entrance. Last week, however, it was an entirely different story. No queue. Heck, no customer even. I wonder if they regret expanding to that open space beside their kitchen for customers to enjoy the tarts fresh.
There are few cheese tarts available:
- Hazelnut - a limited time edition
- Pumpkin - Halloween-inspired
- Original
Just to give you an idea, the filling is quite soft, softer than your usual cheese cake. It certainly wasn't oozing out like lao sa pao but I think that is possible if you heat it up a bit. Speaking of which, do you know it's a bad idea to warm your cheese cake in the microwave even if it's for just a couple of seconds? Please learn from my experience.
Unlike Hokkaido's, this one really does taste very cheesy. The crunchy crust complemented the cheese well too, slightly toasted.
At RM 7.90 (excluding GST), it isn't cheap but one should try it once to see what the fuss
