When this place first opened, everyone was posting their multi tier seafood offering. Queues were long, reservation is advisable to avoid disappointment. So when I decided for a dinner there on a Friday, I wasn't expecting the place to be barely half filled though we were there for a rather early dinner at 7.30pm. The crowd only started to come in at 8.30pm but even so, it didn't pack the place up.
Watermelon and lychee cooler. Made to order so it was quite refreshing and cooling.
Their chili sauce packs quite a punch too but sweet at the same time. Almost like Thai chili sauce. Almost.
A bucket for you to throw the shells in. Makes clean up easier for them too.
There is no plate provided as you are expected to eat off the table literally. Don't worry, the table has been lined with paper that's oil-proof. Well, if you still prefer to be more civilized, you can ask them for plates but that does take away half the experience and fun.
Tongs for you to pick the food and crab cracker for you to (duh) crack the crabs. Somehow, along the way, the tongs were relegated to picking up hot or more food as you'll be more inclined to use your fingers. I know, I know, not exactly proper or ladylike but hey, it was great.
Fried calamari.
I dare say that this is one of the best fried sotong I've ever had. A light batter resulted in a crunchy calamari which went perfect with the chili sauce. This one was quite spicy but I like.
Original seafood for 2pax. Came up to about RM 140 including the calamari appetizer and taxes.
While I wouldn't call them superbly fresh, the seafood were good. They had their original sweetness and most retain their original flavors except for the mussels which had cheese and scallop with minced garlic. Although this was just steamed, some suffered the ill-fated consequences of overcooking, resulting into rubbery texture, mainly the squid and mussels.
Ours was just this one tier and the bottom tier is the seafood soup. To be honest, I would have preferred to have both tiers together, have some soup in between all the chewing and munching but they made it in such a way that you have to finish the food before getting to the soup. Also to allow the juices from the seafood to flow down into the soup that's really pre-made seafood stock and reheated throughout the dinner.
Portion wise, it's quite big for two with lots of variety. Thumbs up for that.
However, I found it to be rather monotonous overall. The soup was a change but by then, I was rather stuffed and couldn't really enjoy it along with the pasta. It was quite a waste and rather tempting to do a takeaway =\
