Considered a new block, Tropicana Avenue has been open for maybe a year by now. But not all the shops are tenanted. Some are and have since closed down. I thought that being within walking distance of few condos would mean good business. That seems to be a fallacy.

We decided to give TST a shot, thanks to Eatigo. What we didn't account for was, the menu was rather pricey to begin with. The set for 2pax was above RM 50 and we didn't want to commit too much. Ordering ala carte wasn't that great either as each dishes would set you back by about RM 10. Things can escalate real quick.

Some China steamboat restaurants like to emphasize on hygiene with their utensils. I've been to one in Uptown that wrapped the bowl, plate, spoon with a thicker version of shrink wrap. TST isn't that paranoid. They only offer you (half) disposable chopsticks. Not 1 stick is reused but the bottom half is made for one time use only.

Their array of dipping sauces is quite dizzying. However, fret not as they did come out with a guide on how to get the best of them.

Or you could just be a rebel and do it your way 😆I decided to try their chili sauces and soy sauce mixed with sesame seed and fried shallots for something tame.
The chili sauce was a wee bit too spicy especially with hot food. Great if you're a glutton for punishment.

They have few choices of soup. This is the pork bone which did come with it. Not pungent with the taste of meat as the herbs balanced things out. Different from the usual seafood based stock. Definitely recommend this though it's not like I did try the rest 😜

Tried few different meatballs and a dumpling. They were generally good. Almost the size of a golf ball. But the price 💸💸💸 I guess you get what you paid for. Maybe it's one of those things that you can reserve for a special occasion. Or maybe I need to start earning more.
