Located in the same hood as Brother Yat, F4 is rather well known for big dishes at (comparatively) low prices. Of course, if you're in the same generation as me, you'll also know about Meteor Garden 😄Long beans stir fry with garlic. Not exactly your standard uniform pretty beans but it's really the taste that matters and that was good.
Fried sweet chicken.
Not heavily coated with batter type. Kinda like popcorn chicken.
Steamed fish in bean sauce.
Coming to F4 means ordering a steamed fish. It doesn't matter which style as long it's a steamed fish. Not only is it huge, it's not all bones, plenty of meat, definitely fresh. Only thing is don't expect it to be top notch fish with smooth flesh. This one style has a right balance of savory with sweet.
Braised seafood noodle.
Could most definitely feed a family of four well. Although the seafood given is fairly small, they were generous with it. I found this was just so-so.
Stir fry kailan.
Somehow, I can't seem to master a simple vegetable stir fry, a disgrace to my race 😞How do they cook it just right without wilting the veggie?
Stir fry nai pak with garlic.
Another veggie that I don't really like but here, it's a higher leaf-to-stalk ratio and the garlic gave it a nice touch.
Pan fried egg tofu topped with minced pork.
If you can't tell already, F4 specializes in simple ordinary Chinese dish. They don't go all out to impress with creativity, letting the flavors do the job themselves via their cooking. This one will definitely win the little ones over.
Fried squid
Love this one that wasn't too oily or heavily coated with batter. If only it came in salted egg yolk version.
Pork belly with salted fish.
We agreed that this was a bit too salty especially if you're not having any rice to go along. Otherwise, quite good.
Steamed fish with ginger.
This is what I meant with the meatiness. Sadly, it was a CNY crowd so the fish was a little overcooked. Too much of ginger kinda spoiled the fish too.
