It wasn't my first time at this branch of Sakae Sushi. First visit wasn't bad. What really surprised me was how they've continuously evolved their menu. There are new items every few months. Some monthly specials. Even if they aren't the top sushi franchise, I think they deserve a thumbs up for never being complacent and trying out new things.

Egg salad seaweed sushi is probably a familiar face to all. Who doesn't like egg mashed with mayo, contrasted with that raw crunchy seaweed? The not so familiar here is spicy scallop trimming because scallop is too damn expensive 💰Not sure if it was worth it or I should have saved up the money to eat proper scallop as this was all spice and no fish. None that I could taste at least.

 Chawanmushi topped with mentaiko.
It was only in recent years that I truly understood what Cheesie meant when she raved about the magic of mentaiko. The taste is so creamy that it complemented the steamed egg very well.

Sesame maki topped with cucumber and kani salad. Almost like an east meets west roll.Love the crunchy sesame seed. Definitely worth trying.

Butter fish sashimi because salmon is too main stream. I love the subtle but creamy flavor of this as compared to salmon's upfront savory notes.

Mini udon with prawn tempura. For less than RM 20, you get a hearty bowl of noodles with spring onion, mushroom and egg. A very complete and wholesome meal.
