Ji Pin Xiang Noodles, Taman Desa

Taman Desa has quite a variety when it comes to dining option. From roadside burger stall to Japanese restaurants, your main concern shouldn't be where to start but where to park. We managed to get a spot, yet nothing came to mind on what's for dinner except that it should be somewhere new. And so that's how we landed at this China restaurant. Would that be deemed racist/discriminatory?

Ji Pin Xiang offers mainly noodles, hotpot and some small side dishes. They also happen to offer BBQ if that's your thing. Their drinks menu is just as extensive, only pricier with the non-canned ones going for at least RM 5. I suspect it's because they know their customer would need to order more drinks dining here, so why not make a profit of it?

Since it wasn't hot enough of a day for hotpot, we had the noodles instead. Their noodles come in original/spicy soup, potato/rice noodle. You can then decided what type of meat you want. I ordered the pork slice and it came in a cast iron bowl. They may have cooked this over the fire so they had to use a proper tong to move it .

We tg made the error of ordering the same spicy soup so we ended up with two of the same soup. I hope that he enjoyed the fiery outcome of it post digestion.

The pork was sliced very thinly that it's close to being paper thin. No mean feat. There were also minced pork. A word of advise: don't ever, ever, EVER stir the minced pork around in soup dishes. Scoop them out first. Otherwise, watch them disappear into the deep end of the sea soup. The spicy soup was most certainly spicy. What was unexpected was the numbness that ensued. Turned out that it may be the same type of China noodles. There were few moments when my mouth questioned why we were having minty soup.

The rice noodle is actually similar to loh shi fun but thinner and longer. Kinda like the supermodel version of it. Then there's also the flat noodle with patterns all over. Almost like machine made due to the uniformity of the pattern but I can't say for sure.

If you like the fiery numbing China noodles, this would be worth the trip.
