Did the influx of K-Drama contributed to more Korean BBQ restaurants popping up like mushroom after the rain? Almost an uncanny coincidence but it does seem that Malaysia is quite an attractive destination for Koreans investors.

F&B is a good industry since there aren't weren't that many Korean restaurants around. With more Koreans migrating over and more locals converting to Korean (wannabe), it's a no brainer that everyone wants to sell you kimchi and not sambal.

The most alluring component of a Korean BBQ for me would be the refillable side dishes. However, it seems that the refillable part is not the defacto in all Korean BBQ joints. Some don't allow any refill at all (!!), some would refill half hearted half plate, some would offer to refill but don't even return until much later. Sad to say, Bon-Ga fell into the last category when we were there on a particularly busy night.

Since I'm neither Korean nor obsess enough over their food to verify their authenticity, I could only comment that the side dishes are most certainly different from other places. More variety but tastewise, they are all pretty much the same. Pickled anything still taste like pickled everything.

Pork belly, possibly the best part of the pork. Lean meat inter-layered with fat ones, it's juicy with texture. After marinated with a blend of spices, they are cooked on the electric grill.

It's probably good fortune for anyone who ends up feeding me because Korean BBQ can be a very costly affair and I'm not a big fan of them. Don't get me wrong, the meat is almost always impeccably delicious; just not enough for me to justify the price tag.

This was their cheaper one at RM 29, including the side dishes.
Quite a good deal to have a taste of Korean BBQ. Not quite worth the amount you're getting.

 Beef soup RM 29
Why is it that Korean soups tend to be either really spicy or really sweet? It's almost like they decided to put in sugar in the soup instead of salt. The veggie is cooked until really soft, just moments away from being mushy. You can taste them in the soup along with the beef.

Still, it does taste really heart warming with the rice 😍It could be just my love of soup and rice speaking there. Their rice is similar to Japanese rice, only less sticky but hot and perfect with the soup.
