XXXIII: Xi Men Ding
If your girlfriend wants to go to Taipei to go to Ximending specifically, you should either be prepared to help pay or carry the load back. If you happen to end up doing both, maybe it's time you reconsider the relationship and perhaps consider me as your new gf.
This district is famed for being a shopping haven. If not for the recommendation of a friend who happened to be in Taipei at the same time as I was, I would have given this place a pass. With renewed hopes that I would get some loot to lug back home, we came here for some shopping.
A rather large and busy intersection. The streets are busy and sidewalks are crowded. However, it's quite a breeze as compared to Malaysian malls particularly during AEON member's day sale. Why are the aunties so motivated to fight with the crowd? Some people say there are things which are very cheap on those member's day sale. Do you know what's cheaper than that? Not buying anything at all.
While I haven't been to Tokyo, this does look a bit like Japan. Except there are more English.
Of course, it would have been awesome to shop till I drop but with the value of our currency dropping even faster, I settled for more sight seeing and window shopping instead. This is the Red House Theater which was of historical significance. Unfortunately, it was undergoing construction work. Such a bummer.
Most of the stores cater to the younger generations. If you are part of the Gen Y or the social media influencer or has a job that allows creativity or you just got no job at all, most of the stuff here would appeal to you with its youthful persona. Then there's the odd ball such as this. While I don't consider Taiwan to be open or rigid with (homo)sexuality, it was amusing to spot this shop out in the open. Just few steps away from the police station too.
Sorry, I was too shy to step in.
