Review: Enorme, PJ SS13

Jalan 13/1, Seksyen 13

Conveniently located at a quieter part of PJ SS 13, it's great that the place has few floors of parking within the building itself as street parking is very limited. I recall of the days while working there. My office didn't have ample parking space to accommodate everyone so we were forced to park along the road. Apart from the annoying double parkers, there were few occasions where I'd end up at the wrong end of the road that I had to walk towards the opposite direction.

Did I also mention that the road is uphill? Fun times.

I've heard about this place from couzzie but never quite got around to trying it out because they are supposedly famous for their large enormous pizza and much as I love eating pizza anything in general, finishing up an entire pizza on my own is certainly well beyond me. Thus, it was great when someone suggested this place for an overdue get-together. We even had just the right number of people. Not that it really mattered because I stuffed myself silly that night.

Nothing like wine to go with your pizza. Or at least to impress your date.

One thing about the place is how the noise level can become unbearable especially at peak hours. Be there early or call ahead for a reservation as the place was quite packed at dinner time.

The restaurant is actually quite big. But the crowd is even bigger. Is this just a phase?
Color mural on the wall. A little out of place with the classy, minimalistic decor but it gives out a playful vibe.

Avocado smoothie RM 17. For someone who didn't have a good experience with avocado, it baffles me as to why such a drink exists.  But the guy who ordered it found this to be a good taste. Especially with chocolate. I'll pass.

Salsa Rosa RM 30: sauteed crisp bacon with sliced onions in tomato passata finishing with a hint of double cream

This was a refreshing take on an otherwise boring tomato sauce pasta. For one, the tomato isn't overpowering. The onions were soft and certainly blended in well with the dish. Oddly enough, there wasn't so much of a hint of bacon that I was thinking this is a vegetarian pasta which is a good thing.

Portobello RM 27: deep fried battered duo porobello, served with sauteed chicken strips and sliced onions in au jus

Something for the kids. I only managed to try the chicken and that had a good earthy taste, thanks to the mushroom gravy.

Carbonara (Bianco) RM 16" crisp streaky bacon, heavy cream, button mushroom, egg yolk, italian parsley and mozzarella

Look at the glistening crispy pork. Look at the melted cheese. Look at the soft sliced mushroom.
Just look at them. Because that was really all I got to do as this turned out to be the wrong order. Instead of pasta, they gave us the pizza version of a carbonara. The captain was kind enough to take this back and gave us pasta instead. Truthfully, I'd happily chow down on this =(

Prosciutto di pancetta RM 84: Cured pancetta, diced tomato, sunny side up, mozzarella and tomato sauce

I suppose this is the high class Italian version of Hawaiian Chicken that any Malaysian who eats pizza would be accustomed to. Except this has no pineapple but eggs. And awesome bacon though it's really pancetta. But pork (especially belly!) in any other name would still be just as awesome. The pizza had a nice thin crust with generous toppings. Unless if you happen to take the edges. Even so, that has a nice crispiness to it. A good break from the cheesy topping, if you may.

At RM 84, you'd think that it'll make you poop rainbows but that's really because you are paying for the size. Here's my hand for scale. It was big, all right. Taste wise, certainly the hallmarks of a good pizza but I ain't no pizza expert. Still waiting for someone to take me to Mikey's and treat me to a meal there. Any takers?

Love the bacon pancetta as it balances out the cheese and sweet tomato. The egg yolks were all still runny and it took some mathematics to cut the slices up without poking the yolk. At the first yolk, it was great. By the second yolk, I was feeling a bit queasy. This is from someone who could eat eggs for breakfast, lunch and dinner (obviously not on the same day), you should not take this lightly.

Carbonara pasta RM 30: sauteed crisp bacon with diced holland onions, butter, parmigiano and egg yolk in a creamy based sauce.
After tasting this, the pizza would certainly have been a better choice. Don't get me wrong, this was not bad but it has room for improvement. For starters, more cheese. More cream. It was all right but if I had to pick, stick to the pizza.

Bolognese RM 16: Prime minced beef ragout, white cheese, dried oregano, mozzarella and tomato salsa

When this arrived at the table, the smell of the beef and cheese coupled with pungent tomato lingered in the air. It was tempting to dig in but it wasn't for sharing.

  Iced mocha RM 13.
Such a ripoff as it wasn't thick. So diluted that it should be called mocha flavored ice water.

Here is the menu in case if you want to see how big a hole it'll burn.
My word of advise: if you want to try their enorme pizza for novelty sake, come in a group of 6 average eaters or 5 big ones. If you want to truly try their pizza, go for the large size instead and order few different ones instead.
