Review: Flying Wanton Mee, Seapark
Jalan 21/22, Sea Park,
46300 Petaling Jaya
Located near the wet market, it's at the same row as myBurgerLab. So, if you want to play a very cruel prank to a foodie or burger enthusiast, can just tell them to meet you up there but go for this stall instead. I know I'd be quite bumped out if that happened during my date =\
As its' name suggests, the place serves wantan mee. However, the true star of the place is actually the cook himself. This place didn't get its name from orders flying off the shelf but the noodles quite literally fly albeit vertically as the cook tosses them up. How high, you ask? Well, almost to the 2nd floor.
Does it add more flavor to the noodle? Not really, they taste like every other noodles.
Does it give more texture then? Also, same same.
So, what's with all the tossing up into the sky? Marketing gimmick, I suspect.
Lo and behold, their famous wantan mee but their cook's reputation is probably what made them famous in the first place. It wasn't atrociously good nor was it bad. The noodles were pretty fine. The char siew was slightly better than those dried up version which wantan mee is notorious for. The wantan itself was smallish, but tastes good.
Shui gao or dumpling was surprisingly good. It had bits of radish but wasn't overpowering with chives. These were rather gigantic in comparison to the wantans.
