This is a rather strange hood because most of the restaurants either don't survive long or they do that you wonder if it's a laundromat. Chuang Fa opened not too long ago and would they be able to stand the test of time?

If their bak kut teh is an indicator, I think that they have a fair chance as both the soup and dry versions are not bad. The soup one, while can't beat the Klang version that's really rich with herbs, fared quite well by Klang Valley standard. None of that light herbal soup nonsense. The dry version proved more flavorful and maybe a tad bit salty if you're having without rice.

And the rice most certainly deserves a special mention. Order the oily rice and you will not be disappointed with the bits of fried shallot lending it a nice flavor.
