Kampachi is rather synonymous with good Japanese food from way back then. My mother would talk about her working days in KL where she would go to here and there for high tea, buffet, etc. Since they've been around for awhile, I figured it would be a good place to bring a Japanese over for a touch of home.No. 1 Jalan Kemajuan,

We were there on a weekday night so there weren't many people around. Service was exceptional.
When they brought these out, I was amazed. Is this what proper Japanese dining means? Having different choices of soy sauce?? 😦
Green tea for a proper Japanese meal but they do have alcoholic beverages too if that's your thing.
Which was served in a proper teapot.
Sashimi platter.
Dinner started with this extravaganza that just blew my mind off with its presentation. Each slice was thick and arranged in a manner that's in harmony with everything else. There is a sort of zen even just from looking at it. Of course, they were fresh.
It does make all the other sashimis I'm now relegated to a tad bit sad.
Sushi platter.
Although this looked less impressive, it was no less delicious. I think it's the freshness of the ingredients coupled with skill.
Assorted tempura. Somehow, with each dish that keeps coming out, we were more and more impressed. Me particularly because it was a different level of dining altogether. Him because he didn't expect to find such quality in this foreign land.
The fried stuff were not only crunchy, they weren't oily too.
Sukiyaki set.
Pickles to whet your appetite.
The rice was perfect with the soup, warm and not too dry. There's just something in every dish here that made the dining experience almost perfect.
You don't see raw eggs much in Japanese restaurants unless if it's a buffet as these are hard to control and you need them to be fresh to avoid food poisoning. The egg adds a silky texture to the meat. If you don't like the idea of coating freshly cooked thinly sliced beef in raw egg, you really don't know what you're missing out on. Clue: really good food.
The less exciting items: miso soup.
Green tea ice cream with red bean. Quite possibly the closest to green tea flavor I've ever had in an ice cream. So, you either like it or hate it. I find that it goes very well with the red bean paste.
