Having started off as a noodles/rice place, it's no surprise that La Meeya decided to jump onto the hotpot bandwagon with the success of Hai Di Lao and the likes. Don't worry, the price is certainly much cheaper than those, just not as cheap as the Pulau Ketam version.

There are a few different types of soup that you'll pay about RM 50 on average, either spicy or non-spicy. I don't think there's a half/half soup option so we picked the pickled vegetable soup. It came with loads of cabbage, shimeji mushroom and some dried chili for that spiciness. Rest assured, it's still not as spicy as the Mala. Not that I've tried it but the name of it brings a chill down my spine (until my butt hole).

It's quite a homely soup, that's lacking in the usual meat flavor but still very enjoyable. Think it was about RM 60.

You get to mix and match your own sauces. Almost 10 different condiments. Being the boring original taste person, I took the usual shallot oil+soy sauce and Szechuan chili sauce. They have their own version of light soy sauce which was as its name suggests, is not as salty and definitely allows you to taste the food and soup better without overpowering them. The Szechuan chili sauce was definitely spicy to the core.

Their drinks option were great as you can either order a glass or jar. The not-so-great thing is they ran out of the herbal drinks way too early. We were there for lunch at 1.30pm and by 2pm, it was all sold out. At ~RM 12.50 per jar, you get about 6 full cups.

Depending on how particular (and rich) you are, ordering the set may (or may not) work well. For the 6 of us (with 1 on keto diet i.e. not eating much), this set was quite worth it. Definitely way too much for 2 person but should really stuff a party of 4. It came with quite a lot of veggie, meat balls, 4 shrimps and slices of pork.

We had an additional order of pork slices, mostly for the keto dieter. This had the right ratio of fat and meat. As they are thinly sliced, just a minute or so in the boiling soup followed by a dip in the oily soy sauce will send you to porky bliss.

What I did notice was the set did have more vegetable than meat. Bang for your bucks? Well, the soup was great. That's why if you're diligent enough, perhaps ordering from their ala carte menu may make more sense.

Not pictured here is the fried bean curd skin that stay slightly crispy even after dipped in the soup. Of course, don't leave it in for longer than 5minutes. That's bean curd skin, not your skin. Sure will not survive hot soup for that long.

Last but not least, the obligatory lou sang. Definitely one of the freshest and best that I've had for 2020. All the ingredients were fresh and you could definitely tell what they were made from. Mango, radish, yam to name a few. The sauce wasn't too sweet. While you don't get fresh salmon, they substituted it with deep fish skin which is better for some.

Total cost was about RM 285 which is pretty good for the quality. Just bear in mind though that service can be improved or maybe they need to hire more people.
