Review: TK Bakery

They have quite a number of branches in Klang Valley but the ones that I frequent are:
  • Damansara Uptown
  • Kota Damansara
Mainly because there are near my house. There is another in Puchong near IOI Boulevard too.

Utmost sincerity for full satisfaction.
That's their tagline, I didn't make that up. Do I look like I am anywhere near capable of coming up with something corny? Actually, yes. Sadly. Worth it? Hope so.

They carry a rather impressive array of baked goods. From the humble egg tart to ham dan sou (salted egg yolk baked in lotus filling), they have diversified much offering even whole cakes.

Their egg tarts certainly deserve the reputation that they behold with its flaky crust and soft filling. However, it's best to consume them fresh as the crust loses its slight crunchiness overnight. No amount of reheating in the microwave can help like your broken heart and lost love.

There is also a butter version of it which has a slight hint of butter but that's about it. My pick is still on the original.

Coconut tart. The crust is different from the egg version but still crumbly to the bite. Instead of egg, it's filled with coconut flakes with the top layer being more crunchy. This is good for people who don't like the sweeter egg tart.

Ham dan sou is one of their savory offerings. Encased in lotus filling, it is baked with a fluffy, flaky crust that just melts into your mouth. Can you see how generous they are with the yolk? It's easily a (small) yolk in there.

I use the word savory here loosely but this is a non-meat option. Still, the saltiness from the yolk makes this less of a dessert.

One thing's for sure: they all make for a good companion with coffee to start a great day.
