Bringing life to this sleepy part of Ara Damansara, the place is packed during dinner times so make your way over early or have patience to wait for a table. You know the place is the real deal when the waitress speaks Thai.
Somtam or papaya salad. Sweet and spicy, this one has a refreshing note. A great appetizer with a citrus twist.
Seafood tom yum.
After all, you can't go to a new Thai restaurant and not order this. None of the milkiness but a lot of the heat from the chili and sourness to contrast that. They were rather generous with the fresh seafood too.
Thai style steam fish.
Spicy? Checked. Sour? Checked. Fresh? Double checked. The fish was not that big but enough to feed the 5 of us happily.
Grilled cockles.
Actually, Jatujak is more famous for their grilled food. Somehow, we ordered only this which was fresh and juicy. You'll have to take their word for it as I don't like this in general 😷
Mango and pandan sticky rice.
I don't quite understand why mango is always paired with sticky rice but it does work quite well. The coconut milk provides some moisture to the sadly undercooked hard rice.
Red ruby water chestnut with jackfruit. The only time that I would eat jackfruit because its sweetness goes very well with the coconut milk. The chestnuts were also plenty though some had more tapioca flour than actual nut.
Coconut ice cream.
This one is comparable to Sangkaya. We liked the rich texture with the right level of sweetness. A perfect ending to a spicy dinner.
