Review: The Revenant

The film that finally bagged Leonardo DiCaprio's first ever Oscar. That is about as much as I know about it. Watching the trailer now after having completed the movie, the former certainly makes the latter more interesting than it deserves to be.

Its opening is rather confusing as it jumps straight into the action. What's certain is how beautiful the scenery was throughout the movie. So much of snow that I felt like being blinded by the whiteness. Tom Hardy is almost unrecognizable as the scruffy Fitzgerald but DiCaprio is definitely the star of the movie. Oh yea, he also happened to have the most on screen time so that helped.

But that's not to say that DiCaprio didn't bring anything to the movie as he was very convincing as the grieving father and Hardy complemented his character well. Not to give away any spoiler (not that there's much), it is enjoyable albeit slow paced at certain scenes. Enjoyable but plotline wasn't that arresting imho.
