Book#June2016: The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists by Neil Strauss

Why are the titles of his book so long? Perhaps to build up the hype but to fail you still in the end, like his books.

This is supposedly the book to help you score women and improve your game but the techniques would probably not work in any Asian country, especially not in Malaysia given how orthodox our society has become. However, it is enlightening and entertaining to read on how American men pickup their women with seemingly high success rate. One of which involves dressing up garishly, in an arresting manner that people would be inclined to take a second/double take. Think flashy sequins, cowboy hats. Now you understand why it'd be a tall order to pull it off here?

Much of the book is a documentary but I honestly hope it's a mockumentary as it portrays women as simpletons with brains of a child that can be so easily swooned. And I am not just talking about giving the number, going for coffee but second base. Occasional home runs too. Or my thinking is just too conservative. Perhaps that's why one night stand is never in my book.
Obviously disregard the fact that you need two for one night stands. And guess who's missing the other?

Traces of NLP can be found all over the book that I'm inclined to think that the true art of picking up women is more of a psychological skill. There are few standard techniques but mostly involve to awe the target. If you are looking to pickup someone for the night or the occasional shagging, sure but would they work in the long run?

Of course, you shouldn't be taking advice from someone who's not been in a long relationship. Now, Mr Strauss, would you write a book for the women instead?
