Fong Lye, Sunway Pyramid
My V-day plan went from Hai Di Lao to no Hai Di Lao then back again to Hai Di Lao and ultimately, we settled on this. Like why so much back and forth with Hai Di Lao? For starters, I wasn't sure if it would be possible to get a reservation. Then when we finally did get one, my date couldn't arrive on time =_= Like double bummer. As my legs were already aching from just trying to locate Hai Di Lao, I gave up and suggested Fong Lye instead. Not quite Hai Di Lao or the romantic V-day date but this is how age changes you.
My winter melon tea was unlike the usual as it was slightly sourish and definitely not all too sweet. That milk tea pudding is quite deceptive and, that's the pudding smack at the bottom which did require some sucking effort.
Steamboat set without the pot pictured in. At about RM 45, it does cost a way lot more than what you get outside. However, it's a fairly large portion that could feed two, though most of it would be cabbage and glass noodle. The ingredients are unique with quite a few meatballs and dumplings. The sliced beef was awesome if you remember not to overcook them.
The dipping sauce deserves a special mention as well for not being your run-of-the-mill soy sauce as it did come with something spicy. Not from the chopped chili, rather that Chinese wasabi. Sorry, I don't know what it's called. The soup itself was light. Don't expect the kind where it's bursting with pork/fish flavor.
Mixed seafood soup and meat set. For RM 43, this can also feed two not-big eaters. The meat is actually stir fried leek with hard tofu and sliced pork belly, cuttlefish (Which was really tough). A little salty on its own. The rice came with some marinated pork. A little sweet. As for the soup, you get a prawn, some tofu, lala, fish cakes and cabbage. There was a mini candle which didn't last long enough for my liking. That or I need to eat faster.
