Uncle Don, PJ SS2
What draws the crowd to Uncle Don? Is it in their cheap beer (or so I heard)? Or could it be in their food? There is never a shortage of crowd whenever I pass by this place at night. Intrigued, I decided to give it a try myself.
Dining here is almost a test of patience as you need to wait for a table. There are both drinkers and diners alike so it's almost difficult to spot who'll leave first (hint: don't bother). Just give your name to the waiter and pray for the best.
Aloha chicken: deep fried breadcrumb coated chicken breast topped with aloha sauce & Parmesan cheese, served with fries and side salad.
If anything, it looked quite ordinary in reality. The meat was most certainly on the thin side. Luckily, it tastes not bad. Fries were chunky and salted well. A pretty wholesome meal. Coleslaw is vegetable so that's healthy.
Spicy bacon pizza: Tomato based sauce on thin crust, topped with spicy pork bacon, capsicum olives and cheese.
I was undecided between this and one of their pork claypot dishes. Turned out this was the right choice with the crispy thin crust. They were generous with the bacon with enough chili in there to get some sweat on. Definitely bang for your bucks.
