A rather familiar name in the Korean food scene, KimchiHaru has few branches in Klang Valley. They are probably among the pioneers in the Korean franchise too though my dislike of kimchi in my earlier years made not have paid sufficient attention to Korean food in general.Kimchi is still a little of a lost hope on me. It doesn't help that they use the entire cabbage to make it and the stalk portion is almost always hard. Well, compared to the leafy part, kinda hard to chew. How should a good kimchi tastes like? KimchiHaru's rather spicy.
Is it because they are a 'contemporary' Korean cuisine restaurant so the presentation also must be on the 'contemporary' side? Very small side dishes which I can't recall if they are refillable or not.
Korean dumplings that look suspiciously like Japanese gyoza. Except maybe not with as much filling. Taste not bad.
Pork spicy ramen.
You know, like your Korean instant noodle. Except here they cook it for you to the perfect noodle texture. Topped with a slice of cheese. Tastes uncannily like your Korean instant noodle but you probably paid almost double of it.
Bibimbap
They have few different versions of this, based on the sauce.
There's just something very comforting about a bowl of self-stirred rice. You get the best of everything. Fiber, protein and carbs. Not too dry, just enough sauce to go around.
Dwenjang jigae: Stew from beef slices with Korean fermented miso paste
Another favorite of mine, the stew is a little sweet but is excellent with that hot white rice.
