Many of you would know about KFC and McDonald's. If Marrybrown rings a bell too, you must have been around long enough. Probably stayed in the suburbs during your childhood years. I recall the first branch that I knew about was in Klang town. It was located in the seedier part of town where people walk the streets after dark for some shaddy dealings. The area isn't that much better now but Marrybrown has grown beyond that, expanding even to overseas.
Citta Mall recently underwent a revamp that saw more tenants opening up to rejuvenate the place which has been dwindling in popularity lately. Did it work? Well, there's still some sort of hype going on as there are events every now and then. As to whether they can sustain it is another matter altogether.
Although there's a McDonald's located at the other end, Marrybrown took a big step to open up here. Ballsy move, really since they all serve similar menu. Except that Marrybrown has more items with a local touch. I decided to order one set to share, in the event that it goes horribly wrong. Thankfully, it didn't but still not a bad idea to share. Not that the portion was huge, the food was mediocre. Chicken burger is about the size of a McD's chicken burger. It tasted all right. Fried chicken was really small by KFC standard, forget about comparing it with Texas Chicken. Size aside, the taste was passable. Could almost swear that it was refried as it had that over fried taste to it. Fries were better than KFC's but far from McD's.
It's not that I don't want to support my fellow Malaysian, I just didn't quite get my money's worth. They weren't bad, just could be better.
