Fei Fan, Subang SS15 Courtyard

A buffet that's affordable in a nice setting? It almost sounds too good to be true but that's what Fei Fan offers. Lunch and dinner comes at different pricing but not too much and that's generally how most buffet restaurants operate. I personally prefer buffet lunches as it means I have the day to use up all the fuel.

The problem with Fei Fan is the queue is long and walk-ins mean a long wait. Although we called up a week in advance, we didn't get a good time slot. We arrived just in time and the place was already packed. Like, who eats at 5.30pm? Well, apart from us who couldn't get a more sensible time slot.

After we were seated, we were asked to select the choice of soups and meat. The vegetables and sauce are self-service. After almost half an hour, still no sign of our soup. The table that arrived after us was already waiting for their food to be cooked. Turned out that they didn't get our order. So much for the service. It also doesn't help that they have a limited dining period for each table.

That certainly did mar the experience a lot. Also, as it is a hotpot, be prepared to sweat. Even though they do have a/c on, all that steam just gets in your face. I suppose it's a good thing if you want a facial from (meat) vapor.

The meat was fresh and very thinly sliced. The meatballs were great as well. This one also did take awhile, just not as long as the soup to arrive.

Their latest branch is in One Utama which hopefully provides better service. At < RM 80, you really do get bang for your bucks.
