Dai Cha Dim, Pavilion KL
It looked like one of those Hong Kong char chan teng style cafes except it's slightly more upmarket price. Perhaps to cover the rent since we are in one of the swankier (if not swankiest) mall in KL.
Pepper chicken soup.
Since it came in a claypot, the soup was really hot in terms of the temperature. If you're expecting it to be really peppery, then you're in for a disappointment. Decent but I would have preferred something with more oomph.
Braised pork with wood ear fungus rice.
Their menu has a more typical dish and plain rice offering. Portion is right for one. Taste was just all right. Almost like that Hakka pork.
Mui choy braised pork rice.
It can't get any simpler than this. The rice did soak up some the gravy from the pork and boy, it's sometimes the simplest thing that is best. No need for complicated flavors. Just plain mui choy and fatty pork with hot white rice.
Wantan mee soup with char siew.
The noodles were springy. Decent rendition of char siew. Again, portion is filling enough.
Hong Kong milk tea. I would have preferred the cold one which would not get diluted but this was the healthier choice with my cough. Kinda sweet as expected.
Lau sar pau.
Like omfg, it is a rich flowing lava of salted egg yolk. Just don't be caught unaware like me that you waste it all on your fingers (lick them for god's sake). Will come here just for this.

Mango sago dessert. A little sweet and though it was meant to end lunch on a sweet note, this came first 😅It was chilled enough with the right consistency.
