Baiwago Plus Cafe, Puchong Jaya

 No.43, Jalan Kenari 17C,
Bandar Puchong Jaya,
47100 Puchong
Hailing from Taiwan, this franchise is brought in by KK Mart. Yes, the very same mini mart. Unlike the mini mart, the prices in this bakery aren't exactly targeted at the lower end market. Each bun average about RM 4 which isn't pricey but when you compare it with other more established player, Baiwago certainly wants to be part of the game too.

Oh and there's that whole minimum purchase before you can sit upstairs, no thanks to Taiwan for starting that trend. Where is cheap people like me going to go/do on hot days now? Die of heat at home? 😭

This is their butter bun. Or something like that. The dough is rolled around multiple times so you don't get that singular layer of bun. Instead, it's like many puff pastries that's been combined into this bun. Quite unique, I admit. Taste was all right. Texture was surprising.

Dirty bun or la ja pao. I know, I'm very late to the game. Unlike original cake, this one didn't exactly fly off the shelves. Maybe because this can be made well in advance, hence no waiting required. My instinct tells me that its name comes from the generous heavy dusting of cocoa powder on top, giving it that 'dirty' look. Since few years ago, I've had a slight phobia of chocolate powder dusting that resulted in coughing after each bite.Luckily, this didn't have the same effect.

Again, it didn't have that soft bun pastry texture inside. Layer upon layer of bread, you'll be greeted with an oozy center of chocolate. Like its name suggest, things will get dirty when you eat this so don't buy it while out on a date. I do like the whole concept though the texture took a little bit of getting used to.
