The place was packed when I passed by it last weekend. My cousin's visit was timely on a Wednesday night when the dinner crowd wasn't as bad.
Being the typical Chinese folks, they ordered a pot of tea. Not sure which but it was good.
This place opened not too long ago. They used to occupy another shoplot which was substantially smaller than this. With this new joint, business has certainly boomed.
Hakka Stewed Pork with Black Fungus: slightly salty on its own but good with rice. The fungus was cooked until oh-so soft.
It was quite a pity since my no-rice policy kicked into place as this would have been awesome. Actually, I did end up with half a bowl of them because my cousin couldn't/wouldn't finish hers.
Stuffed bean curd skin with pork: generous meat filling.
You can either opt for a bowl of 5 (possibly 6) or order as many as you like. Given that each costs about RM 2.30, you do get your money's worth with the porky filling. The soup was rather good but that may be just MSG.
Yam Abacus: coming to a Hakka restaurant & not try this will be blasphemy. It turned out quite good. Not too chewy and great bite sizes. A small portion, they offer a large one too. I like how the slight sweet dough is complemented by the savory deep fried shallots and dried shrimp.
Stir fried brinjal with pork belly: something healthy made unhealthy. Tastes good though if you can get past the oiliness.
Drunken chicken: sweet version which didn't have that much of a kick despite adding more wine to it. To be honest, I find this to be quite a rip off because there were fewer bits of chicken in there than my number of fingers. Definitely not worth it.
Omelet: how can anyone go wrong with this one? OK, maybe me. This was homely with bits of lap cheong, chai po.
Overall, the food was ogod but for the price you are paying, portion is disproportionate.
