Review: Oz The Great and Powerful

James Franco is a rather versatile actor with a nice face. Or maybe it's because of his handsome features that he can get away with being crappy. But he does have a rather impressive resume which ranges from his more-famous day job as an actor to the lesser known director, author. Heck, the guy even teaches film making.

When this movie came out, I wanted to catch it in the cinema but like my fleeting youth, it ended its run before the opportunity came up. Finally caught it last weekend while resting at home and baking away. Yes, those are not mutually exclusive.

The last James Franco movie that I watched was 127hours which honestly felt like it was 127hours. His acting wasn't bad but the storyline was a total drag. Still, the trailer for Oz looked promising enough with magic here and there. Plus it's a Disney film. How boring could it be? Kids won't like it then.

Overall, this was an OK movie. Nice to pass time with the family and kids. For adults, maybe just passable.
