Review: Nexo Restaurant & Bar, Nexus Bangsar South
Bangsar South opened with much fanfare. A number of big companies e.g. BT, Air Product are based there. Unfortunately, food does seem to be much of an issue. Or perhaps it is just me who is too lazy to make that extra effort to get food. Located across Bangsar South, Nexus happens to house some rather interesting names and Nexo is the first I tried (most probably last too).
Looking at how pristine their cutlery was, my heart sank knowing it may actually turn out to be pricey. Thankfully, they had set lunches which wouldn't burn a hole in your pocket.
Antipasto. Not sure what an Italian course is doing in a Spanish restaurant but at least it's Spanish all right. From left to right: salami, pickled cucumber and 'bruschetta'. All bite size and a rather good indicator of what's to come.
Seafood soup which was a little .... unique. Watery instead of the usual thick cream, none of us could tell what exactly this soup was. When asked, the waiter replied, "Soup of the day". Yes, very helpful of him.
Chicken Caesar salad. Instead of having a full meal, this was ordered but it turned out to be rather large portion =D Balsamic vinaigrette dressing, the greens were fresh and crunchy. But, I think it is near impossible to get Caesar salad wrong.
Pinchos Muronos. Chicken kebabs on a bed of spiced rice with side of cucumber salad. The chicken was well marinated but tad bit dry.
Duck pasta. This was surprisingly very good. The pasta was cooked al dente and flavored with enough herbs and chilli flakes. While they weren't too generous with the duck, it was enough to whet your appetite. Overall, a winning dish.
If this place was nearer, I wouldn't mind going for their tapas =)
