Review: Yi Poh, Seremban

Apart from siew pao, Seremban also offers good loh shi fun and the place to get that is at Yi Poh's. The last time I was in this part of the country, we had mediocre food which a colleague mentioned was supposedly very good. Ever since then, I have always doubted when a Seremban person tells me about good food.

What's good with your noodles? Chilli. Super hot chilli.
Unfortunately, the Penang chick didn't dig this. At all. I also don't really trust Penang folk's taste bud. Not because their taste bud sucks (their food is not bad) but their food in general is a whole different genre altogether.

Dry loh shi fun. To be honest, this is like the sneaky loh shi fun's long lost cousin. Long because the noodles are long, unlike the usual loh shi fun that you get (everywhere else apart from Seremban apparently). Still, the noodles were great and as simple as the flavor profile was (dark soy sauce, minced meat, roast sweet pork), this was a bowl of goodness.

On its own, it was delicious. With the chilli sauce, it kicks things up a notch to send you sweating.
Just a wee bit.

If the thought of eating mouse noodle (that's loh shi fun when translated) freaks you out even if it's really not made of mouse, try their Hakka noodles instead.

Deep fried wantan. Maybe I am accustomed to puny ones so these were actually great. Fresh from the fryer, they weren't too greasy and didn't have that strong chives taste.

Blanched veggie with oyster sauce and ............ deep fried lard. Or pork's fat.
Sometimes, it is all right to let go and cry eat to your heart's content. Crunchy and salty but all around delicious, what fat? What cholesterol? Sorry, I can't hear your gasps while munching on these crunchy awesomeness.

So we waited for one more to arrive and by the time he did, we were done. Nothing else to do, I ordered this three layer tea as it looked interesting. Also partly because I was bored and 9gag didn't have any new updates.
It's like when you were kids and the parents are busy talking about adult things and you're bored out of your wits sitting at the dinner table.

On the bottom is the sugar. Think it was pandan. By the time everything was mixed properly, you get a diluted iced tea :( Not nice.
